Manufactured in 1867 this model 1851 revolver falls into the serial number range of the late Fourth model. The top barrel flat is marked “ADDRESS COL.SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA”, “COLTS PATENT” is marked on the left side of the frame and “36 cal” on the left side of the trigger guard. The cylinder is roll engraved with the Texas Navy battle scene and stamped with the partial serial number (0134). The full serial number is stamped on the backstrap, frame, barrel and trigger guard. The loading lever is unmarked.
The barrel retains approximately 60% of the original blue finish with the beginnings of a smooth brown patina and a light edge wear. The cylinder engraving is clear. There is some pin prick pitting on the left recoil shield. The grips are fine with some minor scratches and numerous nicks and dings. There are some minor chips, nicks and light-moderate varnish loss on the bottom edge. Mechanically fine.
