Sharps converted about 4,000 model 1859's to sporting rifles for various main dealers such as J.P. Moore and Sons, Herman Boker and Joseph Frazier between 1876 and 1880. A great deal of these rifle saw heavy use on the plains.
This rifle has been used but is still in good condition. The heavy octagonal barrel has clear markings and has turned plumb brown. The action is still very tight and shows traces of colour. The walnut stock is in good condition with normal marks you would expect for a rifle like this.
