Manufactured from 1858 to 1863, after approximately serial number 36000, these carbines changed from having brass furniture to having iron.
The barrel on this carbine has clear markings and retains about 95% strong blue finish with a mirror bore. The action, which is very crisp and tight, retains a good case colour with clear markings. All screw heads are clean with a great deal of colour. The walnut stock fits very well and is in good condition with few marks. The cartouche is clear.
This is a very good example of a Sharps “59” carbine.
