Remington New Model 1858 Army Revolver

Serial Number 97226    .44 Calibre    8" Octagonal Barrel

The New Model Army Revolver was manufactured from 1863 to 1875 with a total production of about 132,000. The top barrel flat is marked “Patented Sept 14 1858 / E REMINGTON & SONS ILION NEW YORK U.S.A. / NEW MODEL”. The serial number “97226” is located on the bottom barrel flat and on the left side of the frame under the grip. There are small single letter inspection marks stamped on most components.

The revolver is in excellent condition with approximately 90% bright original blue finish overall, with minor thinning on the top of the frame and left shield. The barrel has a very good bore. The cylinder retains 95% finish with finish inside the chambers, and locks up tight. The smooth oil finish walnut grips which are numbered to the gun have a very crisp cartouche. The action is excellent. A very tight New Model Army.
