Manufactured by Hopkins & Allen Co, Norwich, Connecticut, c 1876-1878. These revolvers were manufactured from the finest materials available at the time and machined to much closer tolerances than other revolvers made, they were considered "state of the art".
The revolver embodied a unique feature that automatically extracted the fired shells but left the loaded ones remaining in the gun. This first variation of the first model is in excellent condition retaining over 95% of its original nickel finish.
The revolver has a very good bore and tight action with matching assembly number 1972 on the frame, barrel and cylinder. The red mottled gutta percha grips are in excellent condition and are numbered to the revolver.
