The Model 2 Sporting rifle was Remington's light-weight version of there Number 1 rifle. The new smaller rifle was patterned after the receiver of the Remington Model 1871 Army Pistol that Remington Armoury made for the U.S Ordnance Department, most of the action parts were interchangeable between rifle and pistol.
This rifle retailed by Lamberson, Furman, Co, New York c 1885-1890 has the 24 in octagon barrel with the German silver blade front sight with a good bore and clear barrel address. The rolling block action is very good and has clear patent markings.
The American walnut stock and forearm are in very good condition and retain all of their original finish. The rifle has matching serial numbers on the barrel, frame stock, forearm and but plate.
