The Model 1861 Navy revolver had a production of just over 38,000 compared to over 215,000 Model 1851 navy revolvers. This excellent example manufactured in 1862 has the standard 7½ in barrel which has a good bore, a clear barrel address and retains nearly all of its original blue finish.
The case hardened frame retains most of its original finish with clean nitre blue screws. The trigger guard and back strap retain over 80% of their original silver plating, the trigger guard strangely is marked "44" not 36.
The loading lever and hammer both have very good case hardened finish, the cylinder has a clear scene and all of its safety pins are intact. The walnut grip is in very good condition and retains all of its original finish, the revolver has all matching serial numbers and a very good action.
