The backstrap of this revolver is beautifully period engraved " WM. F. SCHREIBER". Schreiber was a sergeant in Spear's Independent Company of Pennsylvania Militia Infantry. This company was in existence for only 34 days from 17/6/63 to 21/7/63.
The barrel is grey brown with some scattered patches of pitting mostly towards the muzzle. The cylinder is the same colour and retains 85% of the cylinder scene.
The frame is smooth and bears a pleasing grey patina. The brass trigger guard and backstrap retain 90% of the original silver plated finish.
The one piece walnut grips are excellent with one small chip on the left heel. The revolver looks like it was stored for many years in a holster and has some oxidation on the barrel.
